Blog: Winter Remedies Edition 2

Winter often brings respiratory issues and if you are a sufferer of colds, flu’s, sinusitis and any other bronchial problems, this one is for you!

Using Herbal Antiseptic Solution for Nebuliser or Vaporiser

Here’s a great tip for easing respiratory symptoms…

Our Herbal Antiseptic Solution is mostly used for topical application to wounds such as cuts, scratches, abrasions, puncture wounds, minor burns and mouth ulcers. But did you know it can also be used in a nebuliser (for acute conditions) or vaporiser (steaming in a room overnight) for helping to manage upper respiratory, sinus or ‘chesty’ conditions?

Why is it so effective?

Read the ingredient listing below and you’ll see why it works so well for those flu and sinus symptoms:

  • Calendula officinalis – The mother tincture of the marigold plant is helpful for topical infection, irritation and inflammation. Contains alcohol 40%v/v.
  • Hypericum perforatum – the mother tincture of the St John’s Wort plant has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. Contains alcohol 60% v/v.
  • Colloidal silver – a 20% solution is helpful for bacterial, fungal & viral infections.

How To Use

Directions for using the herbal antiseptic solution with a nebuliser or vaporiser:

Dilute 15 drops of the solution in 10ml water (in the nebulizer reservoir) or 15 drops in 20ml water in the vaporizer reservoir and steam in room overnight.

NB  – the Pegasus herbal antiseptic solution is indicated for topical application to wounds AND can be used in the mouth for mouth ulcers,(dab with a cotton bud) and as a gargle for sore throats (dilute 10 drops in 10ml water)

The Benefits of Mucus

Excessive mucus is very irritating, causing persistent cough as it coats the alveoli of the lungs, making oxygenation more difficult and needs to be dealt with.

This is where the Pegasus MUCO-DRAINOL 30C, works with the body, to thin ‘thick sticky’ mucus and  make it easier to expel (taking with it infectious microbes).

MUCO-DRAINOL 30C, is also beneficial for draining mucus from the nasal passages and nasal sinuses as well as mucus in the ears, thus easing sinus congestion and the ‘snotty nose syndrome’ in children where painfully blocked ears are a problem. The remedy also reduces mucus in the throat that is difficult to clear.

For anyone who suffers from irritating, excessive mucus, it’s a hard truth to accept that mucus is actually highly beneficial to our health.

Mucus assists our immune systems by acting as a natural filter for all those microbes that we are constantly exposed to.

A major component of mucus, is mucin which is a viscous substance acting as a selective barrier and lubricant. Mucins seem to prevent lung infections by making it more difficult for microbes to attach to the the surface of lung tissue.  It does this by preventing bacterial biofilms (sticky, thick groups of more virulent bacteria (often resistant to antibiotics)  from causing infections.

Mucins can prevent Candida hyphae (yeast cell filaments) formation which helps to diminish virulence.

Another task of mucus is to ‘encapsulates’ bacteria and viruses and help to expel them from the body.

Our body knows exactly how to heal itself; but sometimes it needs assistance to do so. This is where homeopathic medicine works so well. It sends a message to the body to ‘remind’ it how to heal itself.
